And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steven Oppenhiemer!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oppenhiemer thuds his shin into the meat of Ramirez's side.

Oooooh!!! Oppenhiemer has knocked Ramirez down with a huge combo! Oppenhiemer steps away and waves a wobbly Ramirez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


It looks like Shannon Ramirez has been cut.

Ramirez drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ramirez is standing up over Oppenhiemer. Oppenhiemer looks to escape but Ramirez dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A lull in the action here.
You can see the frustration on Oppenhiemer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ramirez lands a decent elbow from side control.

Ramirez stands up and beckons Oppenhiemer to his feet.

Oppenhiemer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ramirez quickly recovers to half guard.

Ramirez manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Oppenhiemer shoots in and bounces Ramirez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ramirez pushes Oppenhiemer off and scrambles back to his feet.

Oppenhiemer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Oppenhiemer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ramirez throws Oppenhiemer to one side and escapes!

Oppenhiemer looks winded!

Ramirez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Oppenhiemer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Oppenhiemer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ramirez throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Oppenhiemer gets tackled into the cage by Ramirez. Ramirez maintains the clinch.

Ramirez has his hands on Oppenhiemer's head, controlling the position.

Ramirez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ramirez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Ramirez decides to stand and escape the position.

Oppenhiemer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ramirez did well to prevent Oppenhiemer getting side control.

Ramirez has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Oppenhiemer is on him like a limpet, forcing Ramirez back against the cage.

Ramirez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ramirez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ramirez seems keen to control Oppenhiemer's posture.
Oppenhiemer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ramirez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oppenhiemer gets caught flat footed, as Ramirez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ramirez gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ramirez darts in and clinches Oppenhiemer up against the cage.

Ramirez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Oppenhiemer can't fight it off and eventually Ramirez manages to take the fight to the floor. Oppenhiemer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well, if Ramirez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Oppenhiemer is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ramirez jumps into side control!

Ramirez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Oppenhiemer can do to turn this around?

Ramirez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ramirez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Oppenhiemer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ramirez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Oppenhiemer is in Ramirez's guard.

Ramirez pushes Oppenhiemer off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Ramirez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Ramirez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Oppenhiemer tries to avoid it but Ramirez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Oppenhiemer to the ground. Oppenhiemer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Oppenhiemer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ramirez to the mat! Ramirez manages to get full guard.

Ramirez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Steven Oppenhiemer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ramirez gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ramirez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Oppenhiemer walks away with a smile on his face. Ramirez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Oppenhiemer gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Oppenhiemer has hold of one of Ramirez's legs. Ramirez is fighting the takedown attempt but Oppenhiemer gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ramirez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Oppenhiemer at a distance.
Oppenhiemer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ramirez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Oppenhiemer's half guard.
Oppenhiemer is trying to escape back to his feet but Ramirez uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Ramirez decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ramirez takes a swing at Oppenhiemer's ribcage but misses.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ramirez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Oppenhiemer has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Oppenhiemer and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Ramirez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Oppenhiemer is trying to defend but Ramirez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ramirez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Oppenhiemer, pushing him back against the cage.

Ramirez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Oppenhiemer manages to get himself to full guard.

Oppenhiemer is working an open guard so Ramirez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Oppenhiemer is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ramirez dives into side control.
