PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Fda (ranked 5216 p4p, 573 weight class) and Kane Shaam (ranked 4009 p4p, 477 weight class). Fda's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hate Me Now. Shaam comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Shamrock kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaam takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Fda shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shaam as he jumps to the side.
Shaam was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Shaam stuffs the takedown.
Shaam throws a front kick aimed at Fda's knee but Fda avoids it well.
A slow jab from Shaam misses its intended target.
Fda closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shaam circles away.
Shaam feints a counter leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Fda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shaam fakes the leg kick and cracks Fda in the body.

Shaam moves into the clinch.

Fda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shaam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fda somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaam stuffs the takedown.

Fda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shaam sprawls well initially but Fda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fda is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shaam has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Fda is looking for a kimura but Shaam is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fda to get the leverage.
Fda wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shaam keeps working.
Fda wants to free his trapped foot but Shaam is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Shaam avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fda.
Shaam is trying is best to control the position here.
Shaam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shaam is looking to escape.
Fda uses his free foot to push down on Shaam's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shaam.
Shaam tries to hold on but Fda pushes him away.

Fda tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Fda goes for an armbar but Shaam turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Shaam.
Shaam's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Fda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shaam defends well.

Fda is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Shaam frees his head nicely. Oh but Fda has switched to an armbar! Shaam is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Chris Fda spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
