The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs throws a wild body kick that Overeem sees coming a mile off.
Overeem shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gibbs counters with a nice low kick that buckles Overeem's knee momentarily.
Overeem fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gibbs manages to avoid it.

Overeem gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Overeem avoiding damage as Gibbs throws knees to the body.

Overeem is trying to break the clinch but Gibbs has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Overeem drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gibbs gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Overeem drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jarod Gibbs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alistair Overeem.
Overeem stalling in the clinch but Gibbs improves position.
Gibbs pushes off an throws an elbow but Overeem leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Overeem tries to work over Gibbs's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Overeem tries to pull guard but Gibbs forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Overeem jumps guard but Gibbs stands there with Overeem around his waist. Overeem gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Overeem wants to take the fight to the mat but Gibbs manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Gibbs drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Come on Gibbs - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Overeem jumps guard but Gibbs stands there with Overeem around his waist. Overeem gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Overeem won't allow Gibbs to sweep him here.
Gibbs thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Gibbs had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Overeem defends it easily.
Overeem must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Overeem is posturing up here but Gibbs has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Overeem tries to roll out but it's too tight and Overeem has to tap! Slick submission there by Gibbs!
