PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Wilkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wolfblitzer Maxar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilkinson comes to the cage accompanied by Face The Pain. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Wilkinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wolfblitzer Maxar!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maxar moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Wilkinson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Wilkinson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Wilkinson seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Maxar has recovered full guard.
Maxar wants to sweep here but Wilkinson controlling him for the moment.
Maxar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilkinson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Maxar looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Wilkinson has picked Maxar up and slammed him! Maxar can't keep hold of the triangle and Wilkinson manages to pass to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wilkinson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wilkinson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Maxar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wilkinson trying to control the position but Maxar is working away.
Maxar is looking for a sweep.
Wilkinson cracks Maxar with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Maxar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Maxar sneaks back into half guard.

Wilkinson wants to control but Maxar is keeping him busy.
Wilkinson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Wilkinson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maxar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wilkinson connects with a nice short shot to Maxar's temple.
Wilkinson is nestled in close to Maxar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wilkinson throws a strike but Maxar avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Maxar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Wilkinson wants to control from the top but Maxar keeps moving.
Maxar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wilkinson's guard.

Maxar is looking to work some ground and pound but Wilkinson has wrist control.

Wilkinson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wilkinson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wilkinson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wilkinson keeping full guard, as Maxar tries to pass.
Maxar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Maxar trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilkinson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maxar cracks Wilkinson with a solid left hand.
Maxar postures up in Wilkinson's guard and throws a big left but Wilkinson blocks it.

Wilkinson working for a triangle but Maxar defends it easily.
Wilkinson is breathing heavily.
Maxar passes Wilkinson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maxar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Wolfblitzer Maxar will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jack Wilkinson's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wilkinson shoots in for a double leg but Maxar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Maxar stuffs the takedown.
Wilkinson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Maxar.
A nice leg kick lands there from Maxar.
Maxar thumps Wilkinson with a low kick.
Wilkinson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Wilkinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilkinson slips a jab and a cross from Maxar.
Wilkinson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wilkinson fails with the takedown.
Maxar looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jack Wilkinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Maxar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wilkinson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wilkinson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Nice shot lands for Maxar.
Wilkinson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Maxar finds it's way round the side to connect with Wilkinson's head.
Maxar lands a body shot.
Wilkinson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nice body kick there by Maxar.
Maxar pushes Wilkinson away with a front kick.

Maxar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maxar lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Maxar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wilkinson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maxar but Maxar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Maxar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wilkinson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Maxar lands with a kick to the temple. Wilkinson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Maxar lands a big head kick that sends Wilkinson tumbling to the mat! Maxar takes a step backwards and waves Wilkinson back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Maxar fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Oh Wilkinson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maxar misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wilkinson.
Wilkinson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Wilkinson seems to have got his legs back now.

Maxar chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Wilkinson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Maxar. Maxar obviously looking to wear him down.
Maxar scores with a nice head shot.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Maxar.

Wilkinson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Maxar thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wilkinson if he has to take too many more of those.
Wilkinson is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Maxar throws a front kick that sends Wilkinson stumbling back into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Wilkinson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maxar - the referee stops the clock and Wilkinson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maxar. Wilkinson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wilkinson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Maxar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wilkinson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Maxar scores with a head kick. Wilkinson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Wilkinson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Maxar. That one must have hurt.

Wolfblitzer Maxar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Maxar fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wilkinson.
Maxar stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Maxar wants it to stay on the feet.
Maxar now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Maxar with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Maxar.
Maxar thumps Wilkinson with a low kick.
Wilkinson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Maxar counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Maxar drops Wilkinson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Wilkinson looks back up at him and smiles so Maxar waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Maxar is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Wilkinson rather than just go for the knockout.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Look low, kick high! Maxar uses the oldest trick in the book to send Wilkinson tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Maxar is absolutely delighted - when Wilkinson wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Wolfblitzer Maxar!
Wolfblitzer Maxar decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Jack Wilkinson was interviewed post fight and said 'I gotta give it to him, he beat me and there's no excuses.'.
