The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hess forces Peterson back against the ropes and clinches.
Hess displaying some good clinch control by pressing Peterson up against the ropes.
Hess tries a body shot but Peterson blocks it.

Hess swings wildly with an uppercut but Peterson uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hess closes the distance and clinches.

Hess tries to throw a body punch but Peterson avoids it by throwing Hess back against the ropes.

Peterson tries to throw a body punch but Hess avoids it by throwing Peterson back against the ropes.
Peterson breaks the clinch momentarily and cracks Hess with a big right hook that drops him to the canvas! Hess looks like he might be in big trouble here! The referee has started the count straight away and we're up to 5 already. Hess get to one knee - can he make it back to his feet? Yes, he's struggled back up to his feet and seems OK to continue. The referee agrees so we're back to the action!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Peterson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hess circles away quickly and effectively.
Hess is looking to clinch.

and Peterson counters with a big uppercut that drops Hess face first to the mat! Will he beat the count?! He's struggled up to his knees on 7 but it doesn't look like he's going to make it... he's been counted out! This fight is all over!

After winning the bout, George Peterson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
