The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop looks to land a left hand but Boyko moved out of range nicely.
Boyko changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bishop. Boyko does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bishop throws a big shot that misses.
Bishop looks to score with a jab to the body but Boyko is just out of range.

Boyko could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Boyko is striking from the bottom but Bishop uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Boyko wants to sweep here but Bishop controlling him for the moment.
Boyko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bishop's guard.

Boyko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boyko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bishop takes the fight into the clinch.
Boyko tries for a takedown but Bishop manages to get underhooks.
Boyko is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bishop is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pavlo Boyko. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bishop turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bishop manages to end up in side control.

Bishop might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boyko haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Boyko is positioning himself well to prevent Bishop advancing to mount.
Bishop wants to stand up but Boyko is controlling the position.
Bishop is nestled in close to Boyko, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bishop takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Boyko tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bishop is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
