Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Escovedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roland Roundtree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Piotr Escovedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roland Roundtree!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Escovedo.
Escovedo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Roundtree shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Roundtree was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Roundtree tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Roundtree is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Escovedo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roundtree swings around for an armbar but Escovedo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Roundtree's guard.

Roundtree has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Escovedo is on him like a limpet, forcing Roundtree back against the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Escovedo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roundtree does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roundtree really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Escovedo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Escovedo is trying to get back to his feet but Roundtree has full control of the position and if anything, Escovedo has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Roundtree has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Escovedo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Escovedo is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Escovedo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Escovedo wants to control from the top but Roundtree keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roundtree can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Piotr Escovedo.
Well Escovedo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
