Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Holloway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Bassett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Holloway !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Bassett!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holloway keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
It looks like Jim Bassett has been cut.
Holloway leaves Bassett with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Holloway lands with a nice combination. Bassett backs away looking to recover.
Bassett tries to score a power double leg takedown but Holloway sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bassett somewhat.
Holloway cracks Bassett with an uppercut from hell and Bassett crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Holloway 's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Holloway definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Holloway loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Holloway throwing strikes from guard but Bassett blocks nicely.
Holloway is looking to work some ground and pound but Bassett has wrist control.

Holloway thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bassett avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Holloway throws an elbow that misses. Bassett uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Holloway 's guard. Nice move by Bassett!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Holloway is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bassett presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Holloway creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bassett's defenses.
Holloway stops a takedown attempt from Bassett.
Jay Holloway has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Bassett.
Holloway can't get the takedown.
Bassett gets underhooks to prevent Holloway 's takedown attempt.
Holloway breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bassett misses with a right hand
and Holloway counters with a stiff right hand.
A punch combination from Holloway misses.
Holloway shoots and misses
and Bassett counters with a nice uppercut.
The fighters circling - Bassett throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
It looked like Holloway wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Bassett misses with a combination
and Holloway counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Bassett!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bassett avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Holloway .
Holloway is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Holloway throws a strike but Bassett avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Bassett utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Holloway with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Holloway 's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Holloway wants to control from the top but Bassett keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Holloway slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Holloway trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bassett throws a right hand that misses
letting Holloway counter with a right hand.
Bassett tries to clinch but Holloway moves away
and Holloway counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A jab-cross combination lands for Holloway and sends Bassett crashing to the mat! Holloway follows him down to the mat - Bassett regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Bassett is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Holloway dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jim Bassett's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Bassett misses with an uppercut
and Holloway counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Bassett badly! Holloway follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Bassett out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Holloway finished him against the cage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jay Holloway !
