The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tavares decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tavares stalling.
Tavares tries to stand but can't do so whilst Blake controls his leg.
Tavares scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Tavares tries to pass to full mount but Blake defends it.

Tavares is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Blake has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tavares is trying to control. Blake wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blake has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tavares is working away from the top position though.

Blake controls the position.
Tavares takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Tavares wants to control the pace but Blake is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tavares looking to ground and pound but Blake is blocking nicely.
Tavares avoids the attempt from Blake to control.
Tavares wants to control the pace but Blake is squirming around nicely.
Blake looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
Blake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tavares on the ground.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tavares cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Tavares wants to stand but Blake is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Blake holds on to Tavares as tight as he can, avoiding damage.

Blake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Blake wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Tavares.
Tavares unloads with some shots from mount but Blake bucks and avoids them well.
Tavares throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Tavares misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Tavares cracks Blake with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Blake is rocked!

It looks like Cruz Blake has been cut.
Tavares cracks Blake with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
