Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nigel Gazelle (ranked 4288 p4p, 143 weight class) and Jamal Thatcher (ranked 8046 p4p, 257 weight class). Nigel Gazelle could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jamal Thatcher's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamal Thatcher!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thatcher misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Thatcher dives in and scores a takedown into Gazelle's guard.
Gazelle keeping moving, preventing Thatcher from controlling successfully.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gazelle is on top in guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Gazelle is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thatcher looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gazelle is one step ahead there.

Gazelle is fighting to break Thatcher's control of his arms but Thatcher is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thatcher has control of Gazelle's left arm, preventing Gazelle from doing any damage.
Thatcher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gazelle seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Gazelle shoots for a double leg takedown but Thatcher sprawls well. He's pushed Gazelle's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Thatcher counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gazelle has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gazelle there as he acknowledges the shot.

It looked like Gazelle was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Nigel Gazelle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thatcher cracks Gazelle with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gazelle shoots in for a takedown but Thatcher shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Thatcher unleashes a big counter combination but Gazelle bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gazelle takes a body punch but keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thatcher shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gazelle manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Thatcher cracks Gazelle with a solid left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gazelle has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Thatcher regains guard immediately.

Gazelle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gazelle has gone for a leg lock! Thatcher slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gazelle's guard.

Gazelle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Thatcher is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Thatcher wants to control from the top but Gazelle keeps moving.

Thatcher connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gazelle's hands.

Thatcher closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gazelle's guard.
Thatcher slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Gazelle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thatcher is fending him off so far but Gazelle persists. Nope, Thatcher circles away and we're back to standing.

Thatcher has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Thatcher lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gazelle down.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gazelle is not content to let Thatcher control the position.
Gazelle takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Thatcher tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Thatcher is working Gazelle over with some ground and pound from side control.
