PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Strange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Knight is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Strange!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James Knight!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Knight shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Knight showed some decent athleticism there.
Strange looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Knight takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Knight tries to pass the half guard into mount. Strange knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Knight with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Strange makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Strange.
Strange might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Strange keeping full guard, as Knight tries to pass.
Strange really is a fat lump.

Knight is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Knight tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Strange swivels and escapes.
Knight is trying hard to land a takedown here. Strange sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Strange seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Knight goes for a double leg but Strange avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Strange continues to drive forward.
Peter Strange has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Knight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Strange gets caught flat footed, as Knight shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Knight stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Strange swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Knight slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Strange avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Strange controls Knight momentarily but Knight frees himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Knight is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck for Knight with that takedown attempt.

Knight closes the distance and clinches.
Our sources have told us that Strange has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Strange can't get the takedown.

Knight turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Knight manages to end up in side control.
Knight tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Knight stands up.
Knight shoots in but Strange avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Knight shoots in looking for a takedown. Strange tries to sprawl out of it but Knight keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Strange manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Strange half committed to a counter leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Knight dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Knight feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Knight postures up in Strange's guard and throws a big left but Strange blocks it.
Knight stays in close to Strange's body and controls the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Strange stuffs the takedown attempt from Knight. Knight gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Knight is defended easily by Strange.
Strange was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Knight shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Strange's guard.

James Knight has got the better of the ground game so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Knight has Strange up against the cage in a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Knight pulls guard effortlessly.
Strange throwing strikes from guard but Knight blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Knight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Knight shoots in for a takedown but Strange shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Strange is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Knight.

Knight controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Knight has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Strange looking to hit a scissor sweep but Knight is one step ahead there.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

James Knight is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Knight scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Well, if Knight is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Strange is trying to control but can't.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Knight has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Knight slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Knight closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Knight lands in his opponent's guard.

James Knight comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Knight winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
