Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Howlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piotr Escovedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Howlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Piotr Escovedo!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escovedo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Escovedo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Howlett sprawls well. Howlett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Escovedo gets slowly back to his feet.
Escovedo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Howlett throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Escovedo.
Escovedo dives in and grabs Howlett's left leg, looking for a takedown. Howlett pushes down on Escovedo's head and hops out.
Howlett throws a big counter combination but Escovedo scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Escovedo.

Escovedo shoots in for a double leg but Howlett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Escovedo darts in looking for a takedown but Howlett gets double underhooks and turns Escovedo into the cage.
As Escovedo tries to get set, Howlett tries to push him back and clinch up but Escovedo manages to avoid the attempt.

Escovedo swats away the attempt to clinch by Howlett.
Escovedo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Howlett defends well and Escovedo ends up having to push Howlett into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Howlett is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Escovedo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Escovedo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Howlett walks away with a smile on his face. Escovedo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Howlett gets control of Escovedo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Howlett will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Howlett wants to control but Escovedo passes easily into half guard.

Crunch! Howlett slams his shin into Escovedo's torso.

Howlett is looking to control Escovedo's arms but Escovedo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Howlett has his back to the cage.
Piotr Escovedo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
James Howlett is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Escovedo can't find room to land a body shot as Howlett controls the action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Howlett.
Well Howlett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
