PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jimi Kuala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimi Kuala had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.5lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davidson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kuala was covering up waiting for the punch and Davidson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kuala has control of Davidson's left arm, preventing Davidson from doing any damage.
Kuala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round but I would say that Jimi Kuala will probably get the nod.

Kuala bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Davidson's guard.

Kuala throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davidson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kuala is in Davidson's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kuala has hold of Davidson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Davidson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kuala with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Davidson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Davidson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kuala is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Davidson defends it well.
Jimi Kuala overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
