Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darrell Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Carlise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Carlise will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darrell Velazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rick Carlise!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlise connects with the punch.
Carlise fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rick Carlise seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carlise keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Velazquez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Carlise is trying to control the position but Velazquez postures up.
Carlise is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Carlise is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Velazquez is controlling him.
Carlise is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlise might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Velazquez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Velazquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carlise looking to hit a scissor sweep but Velazquez is one step ahead there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Carlise feints and as Velazquez raises his hands in defense, Carlise changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carlise wants to control from the top but Velazquez keeps moving.

Velazquez has his feet on Carlise's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Velazquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Carlise drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Velazquez explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A jab from Carlise does it's job there.
The fighters circle momentarily. Carlise darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Velazquez drives through and clinches with Carlise against the cage.
Carlise is looking to control Velazquez's arms but Velazquez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Carlise has his back to the cage.

Velazquez tries to land knees in the clinch but Carlise avoids the damage to the body.

Carlise scores with a shot to the side of Velazquez's head.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Velazquez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Darrell Velazquez.
Carlise swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Carlise throws a series of punches but Velazquez moves out of range.
Carlise throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Velazquez.
Carlise misses with a two punch combination.
Some wild striking there from Velazquez.

Carlise misses with an uppercut. Velazquez saw that one coming.
It looked like Velazquez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Carlise's corner calls for a 1-2. Carlise obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Carlise changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Velazquez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Carlise misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The strikes coming from Carlise are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Velazquez is not content to let Carlise control the position.
Carlise landing a few strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carlise thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Velazquez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Carlise is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rick Carlise will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Carlise stalling in the clinch but Velazquez improves position.
Velazquez is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carlise pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Carlise wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Velazquez seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Velazquez prevents a body shot from Carlise.

Carlise gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Carlise is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Carlise throwing shots but Velazquez is blocking nicely.
Velazquez has his hands clasped together around Carlise's back. He's all about the action.

Carlise tries to pass the half guard into mount. Velazquez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Velazquez has one foot on Carlise's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Carlise shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Velazquez eats them both and turns towards Carlise to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Velazquez is rocked!
OH! Velazquez has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Carlise smells blood and charges in for the finish! Carlise unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Velazquez sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rick Carlise!
