PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Justin Mazyck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Rizky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mazyck comes to the cage accompanied by This Fire Burns. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Justin Mazyck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Rizky!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizky swats away the attempt to clinch by Mazyck.
Mazyck tries to clinch there but Rizky circles away.
Rizky throws a counter combo.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mazyck enables Rizky to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mazyck manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mazyck has control of Rizky's left arm, preventing Rizky from doing any damage.
Rizky trying to control the position from guard on top but Mazyck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rizky told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Rizky wants to pass the guard but Mazyck is keeping the position.
Rizky postures up in Mazyck's guard and throws a big left but Mazyck blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rizky lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Rizky passes Mazyck's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rizky is trying to work for a kimura but Mazyck is defending well.
Mazyck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rizky on the ground.
Rizky wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mazyck keeps working.
Rizky with the ground and pound but Mazyck uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Mazyck really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rizky is working Mazyck over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Rizky is pushing down on Mazyck's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mazyck is fighting to maintain full guard but Rizky has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rizky seems to be working for a kimura but Mazyck defends the submission attempt.

Rizky tries to pass to full mount but Mazyck defends it.

Rizky is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rizky is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mazyck defends it well.
Rizky moves into full mount! Mazyck won't be happy about that!

BOOM! Rizky connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Rizky stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mazyck avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Some wild striking there from Rizky.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Rizky dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Rizky clinches.
Mazyck is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rizky to keep the fight standing.
Rizky stops a takedown attempt from Mazyck.
Mazyck tries to pull guard but Rizky holds him up against the cage and eventually Mazyck drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Mazyck. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mazyck breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mazyck throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rizky checks a leg kick.
Rizky tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mazyck defends well and Rizky ends up having to push Mazyck into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Rizky has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mazyck wants to clinch.
Rizky shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rizky misses with a few strikes there.
Mazyck tries to clinch but Rizky moves out of range.
Mazyck circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rizky tries to keep at a distance but Mazyck has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rizky managing to block the knees to the body from Mazyck.
Mazyck is trying to drag Rizky to the mat but Rizky just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mazyck is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Rizky gets underhooks to prevent Mazyck's takedown attempt.
A frustrated look appears on Mazyck's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mazyck goes for a takedown attempt but Rizky pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mazyck misses with a straight left.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rizky jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Rizky shoots in and drives through. Mazyck sprawls well.
Rizky circles away from the clinch attempt.
As Mazyck backs off Rizky throws a huge counter combo but Mazyck manages to avoid it all.
Mazyck is looking to clinch.

Rizky has managed to clinch.
Rizky comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Rizky misses with a knee strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mazyck tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rizky just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rizky lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Mazyck's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mazyck tries to pull guard but Rizky forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Rizky drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rizky breaks from the clinch.

Mazyck clinches up against the cage.
Rizky pushes off an throws an elbow but Mazyck leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rizky takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Rizky throws an elbow that misses.
Rizky is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rizky scores with an uppercut up the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rizky throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mazyck blocks it with crossed arms.
Mazyck is trying to pull guard but Rizky turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mazyck tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rizky has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mazyck clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rizky lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Rizky scores with punches from the back.
Rizky has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rizky is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Juan Rizky has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mazyck is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Rizky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Rizky dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mazyck. That did some damage!
Mazyck misses with a jab, cross combination.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rizky.
Mazyck defending against the ground and pound.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rizky in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Rizky is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mazyck looks calm but he's in trouble here. Rizky gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mazyck is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Rizky lets go of the hold and Mazyck can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Juan Rizky!
A very excited looking Juan Rizky made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Justin Mazyck was interviewed post fight and said 'This just means more training is needed'.
