Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hershel Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Trey Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daniels shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Armstrong is trying to defend but Daniels finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Armstrong has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Daniels is on him like a limpet, forcing Armstrong back against the cage.

Armstrong pulls guard.

Armstrong has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Daniels escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Daniels!

Daniels stands up.

Daniels clinches up with Armstrong and pushes him back against the cage.
Daniels jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Armstrong walks away with a smile on his face. Daniels gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Daniels misses with a lunging right hand
and Armstrong counters with a stiff right hand.
Daniels throws a left and a right that both miss
and Armstrong counters with a left and a right that stings Daniels.
Daniels works over Armstrong's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Hershel Armstrong has been cut.
Daniels tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Armstrong is able to avoid easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daniels tries for a takedown but Armstrong circles away easily

and Armstrong counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Armstrong fails to pull guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Daniels is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Armstrong will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Armstrong is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Armstrong keeping moving, preventing Daniels from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armstrong is looking for a triangle here but Daniels uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Armstrong is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Daniels tries for a kimura but Armstrong is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniels working the ground and pound but Armstrong is defending the strikes.
Armstrong lands with an elbow strike from the bottom.

Armstrong is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Daniels's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Daniels! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Armstrong has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Trey Daniels!
