PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Seki Date (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raymond Donde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Seki Date!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Raymond Donde!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donde swats away the attempt to clinch by Date.

Date instigates a clinch.
Donde's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
A short uppercut from Date.

Date breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Donde throws a hook to the side of Date's head but Date sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Date rushes Donde and presses him up against the cage.

Date manages to break the clinch.

Date clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice left hand lands by Date.
A right hook to the body lands for Date.
Date lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Date pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Donde is defended easily by Date.

Donde shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Donde was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Donde is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Date knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Donde is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Date looks calm but he's in trouble here. Donde gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Date is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Donde lets go of the hold and Date can pop his arm back in it's socket.
