Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joel Bates!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates is looking to slow Jaa down with leg kicks.
Bates ducks under a wild hook from Jaa.
Bates steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jaa.
Jaa misses the shot to the body.
Jaa's coach down at Gizmo's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jaa's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Bates throws a combination that misses
and Jaa counters with a left to the body.
Jaa misses with a looping right.
Bates just misses with a punch to the body.
Jaa dips to his left and cracks Bates with an uppercut!
Jaa is looking to clinch but Bates is avoiding it.
Jaa cracks Bates with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaa lands with a nice body punch.
Jaa cracks Bates with an open hand slap.
Jaa shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bates misses with a looping left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jaa fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Bates rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Jaa to counter with a crisp jab.
Bates keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jaa.
Bates takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Bates throws a wild body kick that Jaa sees coming a mile off.
Bates has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ferocious Beast in the buildup to the fight.
Jaa thuds his right hand into Bates's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Bates with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Jaa listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Bates throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jaa looks to land a left hand but Bates moved out of range nicely.
Bates uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Jaa is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bates had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bates shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bates lands with a nice body kick.
Jaa walks into a left hand.
Nice defenses there by Jaa.
Bates throws a looping overhand right but Jaa ducks down to avoid it.
Bates with a hook.


Jaa is rocked!
Bates throws a leg kick
and Jaa counters with a stiff right hand.
Jaa is still on wobbly legs! Can Bates finish him?
A thudding body kick lands there by Bates!
Jaa seems to have recovered his senses.
Jaa looks winded!
Bates looks for the body kick but Jaa saw that one coming.
Bates misses the jab.
Bates cracks Jaa with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Jaa tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Bates pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Jaa is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joel Bates!
Joel Bates is the new middleweight champion!
Joel Bates thanked the fans post fight for their support.
