Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Austin Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Zelaya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zelaya is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: A.B.C. Sammy Zelaya is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Austin Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sammy Zelaya!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zelaya closes this distance looking for a takedown but Warren circles away.

Zelaya moves into the clinch.
Warren keeps control of Zelaya as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Zelaya utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Warren pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Zelaya has managed to clinch.
Warren scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Zelaya goes for a takedown attempt but Warren pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Warren tries to keep at a distance but Zelaya has taken the fight into the clinch.
Warren really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A battle for position here, against the cage.
Zelaya can't get the takedown.
Austin Warren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sammy Zelaya.
Zelaya jumps guard but Warren turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Zelaya has Warren pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Warren manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Warren throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Zelaya defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Warren's arms.

Warren lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Zelaya hold on?!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Zelaya throws a head punch that misses.

Warren ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Warren no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Warren is looking to stand up but Zelaya isn't so interested in that idea.
Warren will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Warren is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Zelaya is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Warren winds up and cracks Zelaya with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Zelaya is looking to control Warren's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zelaya avoid being mounted?
Zelaya is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Warren is staying active.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Warren is trying to control. Zelaya wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Warren is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zelaya doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Warren.
Warren slips a nice elbow through Zelaya's hands, connecting with Zelaya's forehead.
Warren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zelaya has hold of Warren's hands but Warren slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Warren is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zelaya can do to turn this around?

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Warren lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Warren is nestled in close to Zelaya, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Warren takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Warren connects with a nice short shot to Zelaya's temple.
Warren winds up and cracks Zelaya with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Warren looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zelaya with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Zelaya tries to roll over but Warren keeps him under control.

That's time! Warren's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Warren stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Warren wants it to stay on the feet.

Warren throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Zelaya tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Warren is in Zelaya's guard.
Warren postures up in Zelaya's guard and throws a big left but Zelaya blocks it.
Warren working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Zelaya's head.
Warren trying to control the position from guard on top but Zelaya is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Austin Warren is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Warren, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
