PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hakou Kaku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ewens Hulk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakou Kaku could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ewens Hulk's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hakou Kaku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ewens Hulk!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hulk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kaku tries to avoid it but Hulk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kaku to the ground. Kaku escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hulk closes the distance and clinches.
Kaku is trying to push Hulk away but Hulk has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hulk lands a body punch in the clinch.
Hulk tries to land knees in the clinch but Kaku avoids the damage to the body.
Kaku tries to break the clinch but Hulk is controlling the position.
Kaku pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Kaku fails to pull guard.
A left hand lands to the body for Kaku.
Kaku gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hulk.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hulk tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hakou Kaku has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ewens Hulk.
Kaku is trying to break free.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hulk is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Hulk lands with a right to the head.
Kaku goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hulk prevents it.
Kaku jumps guard but Hulk turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Knees in the clinch landing for Kaku.
Kaku tries to circle away but Hulk has him pinned against the cage.

Hulk has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kaku uses from the top position.
Hulk is pulling down on Kaku's head. It's preventing any offense from Kaku, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hulk is continuing to stall.
Kaku will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kaku in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hulk working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kaku.
Kaku trying to control but Hulk is working from the bottom.
Kaku being controlled here momentarily.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hulk gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hulk tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kaku just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hulk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kaku throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hulk should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kaku is looking to clinch.
Kaku moves in looking to clinch but Hulk pushes him off.
Hulk wants to counter the offense by Kaku and move into the clinch position.
Hulk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kaku sprawls well. Kaku wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hulk gets slowly back to his feet.
Hulk takes one to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hulk shoots in and drives through. Kaku sprawls well.
Kaku seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Kaku tries to clinch there but Hulk circles away.
Kaku sets himself, and Hulk steps forward looking for the clinch! Kaku avoids it this time.
Hulk fails with a takedown attempt.
As Hulk looks to move away, Kaku throws a big counter combo but Hulk just gets out of the way.
Kaku is looking to clinch but Hulk is avoiding it.
Hulk avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hulk instigates a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kaku breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hulk misses with an uppercut
enabling Kaku to counter with a crisp jab.
Kaku tries to clinch up but Hulk circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ewens Hulk will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Kaku looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hulk will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hulk is defended easily by Kaku.
Kaku tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Hulk counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kaku!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kaku tries to escape but Hulk is in control.
Hulk scoring with punches from side control.
Kaku misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Hulk remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Kaku trying to control but Hulk flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Hulk keeps control of the position easily here as Kaku tries to buck him off.

Hulk working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Kaku trying to get back to his feet but Hulk is in full control for now.
Hulk punishes Kaku with strikes from the back mount.
Ewens Hulk has got the better of the ground game so far.
I really don't envy Kaku right now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hulk biding his time, controlling Kaku.
Hulk's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Hulk is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kaku has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Hulk has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kaku taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Hulk doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ewens Hulk!
