Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aksan Mukahmir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aksan Mukahmir!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez shoots in looking for a takedown but Mukahmir manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alvarez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mukahmir circles away from the clinch attempt.

Mukahmir closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alvarez did well to prevent Mukahmir getting side control.

Alvarez tries to get to full guard but Mukahmir has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez is trying to maintain the position but Mukahmir is very close to passing his half guard.
Mukahmir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alvarez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mukahmir in particular looking to stall.

Alvarez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mukahmir is working away from the top position though.

Alvarez wants to clinch up but Mukahmir keeps it at a distance.

Mukahmir displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alvarez.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mukahmir! But no joy.
Alvarez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mukahmir counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Mukahmir counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Alvarez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mukahmir's waist but Mukahmir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alvarez off to one side.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mukahmir! But no joy.
Alvarez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mukahmir.

Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mukahmir paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aksan Mukahmir dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mukahmir feints a jab promting Alvarez to slip. Mukahmir then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Alvarez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Mukahmir has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Alvarez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mukahmir is fending him off so far but Alvarez persists. Nope, Mukahmir circles away and we're back to standing.

Horrible takedown attempt by Alvarez or perhaps it was just good defense by Mukahmir, which made it look bad.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mukahmir lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mukahmir swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The crowd cheers as Mukahmir lands an impressive looking overhand right. Alvarez doesn't seem phased though.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Alvarez enables Mukahmir to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alvarez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Alvarez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mukahmir controls the pace.

Alvarez wants to control the position but Mukahmir says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Mukahmir is pressing down on Alvarez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alvarez is holding on for now.
Alvarez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Alvarez.

Alvarez is looking for a triangle but Mukahmir pushes his legs off easily.
Mukahmir lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Mukahmir is working Alvarez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mukahmir's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mukahmir not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mukahmir must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Alvarez is working an open guard so Mukahmir takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Alvarez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mukahmir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Aksan Mukahmir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Alvarez goes for a double leg but Mukahmir avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mukahmir continues to drive forward.
And Mukahmir tries to counter it with a takedown but Alvarez pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Alvarez is looking to cinch up a triangle. Mukahmir throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Alvarez's body to avoid the submission. Alvarez has instead reached around Mukahmir's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Alvarez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
