PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Laush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhang Lianbiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Laush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhang Lianbiao!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lianbiao throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Laush sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lianbiao shoots in and drives through. Laush sprawls well.
Laush misses with a takedown
and Lianbiao counters with a thumping low kick.
Laush fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lianbiao looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nice sprawl there from Laush as Lianbiao shoots in.
Lianbiao gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Laush counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lianbiao!
Alex Laush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zhang Lianbiao.
Lianbiao is looking to improve his position but Laush isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lianbiao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Alex Laush will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Laush is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lianbiao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Laush swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lianbiao tries to free his leg and advance position but Laush is retaining full guard.

Lianbiao closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Laush pushes Lianbiao away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lianbiao gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

You can see the frustration on Laush's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Zhang Lianbiao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
