PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Derui Pake (ranked 180 p4p, 21 weight class) and Fox Mulder (ranked 1027 p4p, 120 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pake might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Derui Pake!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fox Mulder!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mulder connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mulder checks the leg kick nicely there.
Mulder tries to counter by closing the distance.
Mulder tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pake manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pake plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Fox Mulder has been cut.
Mulder throws a jab when Pake was well out of range.
Pake looks to throw the jab but Mulder is out of range.
Mulder feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Pake's calf.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Pake - that will leave a mark!
Mulder pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Pake misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mulder connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pake. Pake circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Mulder tries to clinch up.
It looked like Pake was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mulder.
Mulder ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pake moves away.

Pake lands a big head kick that sends Mulder tumbling to the mat! Pake takes a step backwards and waves Mulder back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Mulder is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mulder swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mulder is still on wobbly legs! Can Pake finish him?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pake ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mulder moves away.
Pake swats away the attempt to clinch by Mulder.
Pake throws a quick head kick that knocks Mulder silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Pake is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Derui Pake!
Derui Pake retains his featherweight title!
After winning the bout, Derui Pake thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
