PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Mighty Quinn (ranked 715 p4p, 105 weight class) and Sammy Gravano (ranked 1505 p4p, 215 weight class). Quinn comes to the cage accompanied by Mighty Quinn. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, The Mighty Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammy Gravano!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gravano ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quinn moves away.
Gravano lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


It looks like The Mighty Quinn has been cut.
Quinn definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Quinn lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Quinn's corner calls for a 1-2. Quinn obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


It looks like Sammy Gravano has been cut.
Nice shot by Gravano.
Quinn keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gravano ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quinn moves away.
Gravano fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Quinn manages to avoid it.
Gravano scores with a hook to the body. Quinn takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Gravano misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Quinn to counter with a crisp jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Quinn drops Gravano with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Gravano looks back up at him and smiles so Quinn waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Gravano is rocked!
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gravano has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
That kick from Quinn tenderised Gravano's leg. Gravano is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gravano is still on wobbly legs! Can Quinn finish him?

Gravano closes the distance and clinches.
Quinn prevents the takedown attempt.
Gravano seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gravano throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Quinn lands a left hand that snaps the head of Gravano backwards.
Gravano swings wildly with an uppercut but Quinn uses good head movement to avoid it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Quinn creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Quinn scores with a shoulder strike.
Gravano is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Quinn is defending well.
Quinn lands a body punch in the clinch.
A knee to the head by Quinn.

Quinn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gravano thuds his right hand into Quinn's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Gravano fails to land with a series of punches.
It looked like Quinn wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Some wild striking there from Quinn.
Gravano rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Quinn counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Quinn looks to land a right hand but Gravano moved out of range.
Gravano misses with a body shot

and Quinn counters with a nice right hand that sends Gravano toppling to the canvas! Gravano scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Quinn finish him?!
Gravano pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Quinn feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gravano sprawling to the canvas! Gravano rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Quinn finish him?!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gravano.
Quinn was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
The Mighty Quinn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sammy Gravano.
and Quinn counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Gravano! He's just covering up as Quinn starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Mighty Quinn!
During a confident post fight interview, The Mighty Quinn thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Sammy Gravano was interviewed post fight and said 'It is what it is. Well done to my opponent. I'll go home, make some adjustments and come back better.'.
