Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Iggy Steve (ranked 3916 p4p, 471 weight class) and David McDonald (ranked 5046 p4p, 566 weight class). Steve's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Vamps-Wake Up. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald is looking to land body kicks.
Steve has a takedown stuffed.

McDonald closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McDonald has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
McDonald is looking to clinch.
McDonald closes this distance looking for a takedown but Steve circles away.

Steve fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McDonald, pushing him back against the cage.
McDonald wants to get back to striking at distance but Steve won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonald wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Steve breaks the clinch.
Steve fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McDonald manages to avoid it.
McDonald doesn't manage to clinch there - Steve circles away.

McDonald stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McDonald wants it to stay on the feet.
Steve is trying hard to land a takedown here. McDonald sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Iggy Steve. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steve shoots in looking for a takedown. McDonald tries to sprawl out of it but Steve keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McDonald manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McDonald throws a head kick but Steve moves out of range.

and Steve counters with a nice double leg into side control. McDonald won't be happy with that.
McDonald isn't going anywhere.
McDonald is trying to control Steve's posture but Steve avoids it.

McDonald gets back to half guard.
McDonald tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
McDonald is trying to maintain the position but Steve is very close to passing his half guard.
Steve tries to stand but can't do so whilst McDonald controls his leg.

McDonald flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald works his way to full guard. Good work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Steve shoots for a double leg takedown but McDonald sprawls well. He's pushed Steve's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Steve has McDonald up against the cage in a clinch.
McDonald tries to circle away but Steve has him pinned against the cage.

Steve breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Steve fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McDonald to the ground. Steve is now in McDonald's guard.

McDonald is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Steve frees his head nicely. Oh but McDonald has switched to an armbar! Steve is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
