PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marv Ellis (ranked 3710 p4p, 433 weight class) and Matt Moore (ranked 22083 p4p, 840 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marv Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Moore!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Bruno Hogan and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ellis at a distance.
Moore throws a lazy right hand but Ellis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Moore looks to land a left hand but Ellis moved out of range nicely.
Moore throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Moore misses with a double jab.
Moore lands a jab to the head.
Ellis misses with an uppercut.
Ellis throws an overhand right that lands on Moore's shoulder, as Moore tries to avoid the shot.
Ellis scores with the left hand. Moore knows he should have avoided that one.
Moore lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ellis at a distance.
Ellis avoids the body shot from Moore.
Moore moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Ellis connects with a looping right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A looping hook to the body misses from Moore. Ellis does a little dance to reset his feet.

Moore fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ellis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Ellis throws a hook to the side of Moore's head but Moore sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Moore has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Moore takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Matt Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ellis's corner calls for a 1-2. Ellis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Moore walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Despite the aggression on Moore's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Moore closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ellis quickly recovers to half guard.

Moore is nestled in close to Ellis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Ellis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moore defends it easily.

Ellis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Moore wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving.

Ellis is not content to let Moore control the position.

Moore is sitting in close to Ellis's body. Ellis has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Moore is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Moore is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ellis.
