Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Silas Holden (ranked 6611 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Woody (ranked 5298 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Silas Holden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Woody!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Woody manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Holden on his heels. He'll look to pass Holden's guard now, I'm sure.
Woody pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Holden is keeping the position for now.

Holden working for a triangle but Woody defends it easily.
Holden can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Woody controls the pace.
Woody connects with a couple of short punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woody wants to control from the top but Holden keeps moving.
Woody won't allow Holden to sweep him here.
Woody postures up in Holden's guard and throws a big left but Holden blocks it.
Holden will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Woody tries to free his leg and advance position but Holden is retaining full guard.
Holden is adopting a defensive guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Holden enables Woody to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Holden manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Holden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woody on the ground.

Holden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Woody clinches up with Holden and pushes him back against the cage.

Woody tightens his grip and picks Holden up, before dumping him to the ground. Holden manages to land in guard.
Holden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Woody wants to control from the top but Holden keeps moving.
Woody is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Holden wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Holden continues to stall.

Holden wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Woody is now in half guard.

Woody shoots in for a takedown but Holden shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Holden is looking to clinch but Woody is avoiding it.

Silas Holden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Woody.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woody rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Holden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Holden appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Woody shoots in for a takedown but Holden shows good takedown defense.

Woody closes the distance and clinches.
Woody tries to pull guard but Holden forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Holden manages to break the clinch.
Woody is breathing heavily.
Woody throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Woody drives through and clinches with Holden against the cage.

Holden breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Woody changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Holden tries to avoid it but Woody manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Holden to the ground. Holden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Holden misses with a jab, cross combination.
A cross from Holden lands.

Woody closes the distance and clinches.
Holden wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Holden breaks from the clinch.

Woody closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Holden did well to prevent Woody getting side control.

Woody has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well, if Woody is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holden is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Woody needs to keep his hands up - Holden had a free shot at his head there.
Holden lands a nice shot that snaps Woody's head back.
Holden stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Holden wants it to stay on the feet.
Holden was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Holden is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Woody is defended easily by Holden.

Holden stuffs the takedown.

Holden instigates a clinch.

Holden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Woody shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Holden just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Woody darts in looking for a takedown but Holden gets double underhooks and turns Woody into the cage.
Woody walks into a stiff left hand from Holden.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silas Holden dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Holden bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Holden tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Woody shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Holden connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Woody momentarily.

Holden has closed the distance and engaged Woody in a clinch.

Woody shoots in and drives through. Holden sprawls well.
Brandon Woody seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Woody gets tackled into the cage by Holden. Holden maintains the clinch.
Woody takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Woody pulls guard.
Holden lands a couple of digs.
Holden wants to stand but Woody has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Holden distracts Woody with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Woody looking for a sweep. Not yet Woody, not yet.
Holden working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Woody's head.

Woody is working an open guard so Holden takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Holden's corner calls for a 1-2. Holden obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Woody dives in and grabs Holden's left leg, looking for a takedown. Holden pushes down on Woody's head and hops out.
Silas Holden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Woody.

Holden slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Woody closes the distance and clinches.

Woody throws a leg kick but Holden sees it coming and moves out of range.
Holden stuffs the takedown attempt from Woody. Woody gets slowly back to his feet.
Holden changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Holden breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Woody throws a sloppy body shot
and Holden counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Holden scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Holden looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Holden connects with a nice short shot to Woody's temple.

Holden is looking for a kimura but Woody is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Holden to get the leverage.
Woody tries to get to full guard but Holden has control of the leg.

Holden working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Holden is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Woody moves into full guard.
Holden has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Holden throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Holden is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Woody is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Woody has escaped and now he's on top!

Woody is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
