Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Lewis (ranked 1791 p4p, 64 weight class) and Darren Lockyer (ranked 896 p4p, 21 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin Lewis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darren Lockyer!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lockyer fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Lewis tries to clinch but Lockyer moves away
and Lockyer counters with a nice uppercut.
Lockyer swings widly with a right hand
and Lewis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Lewis checks a low kick from Lockyer.
Lewis drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lockyer sprawls and moves away.
Lockyer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lewis on the side of the head.

Lewis has Lockyer up against the cage in a clinch.

Lewis manages to break the clinch.
Lewis tries to clinch but Lockyer is having none of it.
Lockyer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Lewis throws a body punch but Lockyer moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lockyer throws a lazy right hand but Lewis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lockyer lands a glancing blow to the side of Lewis's head.
Lockyer misses with an uppercut. Lewis saw that one coming.
Lewis ducks under a wild hook from Lockyer.
Lewis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Darren Lockyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lewis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Lockyer to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lockyer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lewis dives in for a single leg takedown but Lockyer sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lewis has been working on his balance at RIO Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Lockyer.

Lockyer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lewis manages to get himself to full guard.

Lewis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lewis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lockyer is one step ahead there.
Lockyer works over Lewis with some ground and pound from guard.
Lewis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lockyer's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lockyer holds on and takes a little breather.

Lockyer has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Lewis has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Lewis is looking for a takedown.
Lewis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lockyer prevents it.

Lewis has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lockyer is trying to keep an underhook but Lewis manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Lockyer pushes Lewis off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lockyer motions for Lewis to come forward. Lockyer throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Lewis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lockyer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lewis.
Lockyer looks to throw the jab but Lewis is out of range.
Lewis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Lockyer lands a slapping body shot.
Lewis takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darren Lockyer dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Lockyer sizes up Lewis with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

A big left from Lockyer misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lewis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lockyer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lewis manages to avoid it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lockyer is looking to land body kicks.
Lewis takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lockyer sprawls well. Lockyer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lewis gets slowly back to his feet.

Lewis misses with a takedown attempt - Lockyer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
It seemed like Lockyer was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lockyer throws a shot from downtown. Lewis moves away and avoids it.
Lockyer cracks a nice hook into Lewis's ribs.
Lockyer jabs Lewis to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Lockyer connects with a nice looking jab.
Lockyer looks to throw the jab but Lewis is out of range.
Lockyer lands a nice hook to Lewis's body. Lewis takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lockyer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lewis momentarily.


Lewis is rocked!
Lockyer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
BAM! Lockyer delivers a spinning backfist that drops Lewis like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

A very excited looking Darren Lockyer made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
