Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alix Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arcturus Ulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ulver's choice of entrance music: Dunkelheit. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross tries to bum rush Ulver with a series of wild strikes but Ulver uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Ross shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ulver's guard.

Ulver looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ulver looking for a sweep. Not yet Ulver, not yet.

Ulver throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Ulver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ross!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ross tries to lock up and control but Ulver gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ulver is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ross has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Ulver is landing with some decent strikes but Ross is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ulver lands a big elbow.

Ulver goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ross is on top in guard.

Ross drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ulver dives on top into guard.

Ulver has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ulver working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ross doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ross manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ross escapes and gets back to his feet.
Ulver tries to clinch up.
Ulver checks a low kick from Ross.
Ross throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ulver shoots in for a takedown but Ross shows good takedown defense.
Ulver throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Ulver scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ross tries to buck Ulver off but Ulver is having none of it.
Ross throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Ross is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ulver off and has taken his back!
Ross has the hooks in. Ulver is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Ross is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ulver has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

That's time! Ross's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ulver has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ross is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Alix Ross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arcturus Ulver.
Ross digs a right hand underneath Ulver's ribcage. Ulver let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Ross wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ulver has him pressed against the ropes.
Ross jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ulver walks away with a smile on his face. Ross gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ulver is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Ross gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Ulver fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Ross looks to land a combination but Ulver avoids it well.
Ulver fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ross closes the distance and lands a one-two.

and Ross counters with a shoot takedown. Ulver fights it but they end up in guard.

Ross gets to his feet. Ulver looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alix Ross overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ulver shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ulver was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
