Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brunson Mastiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dean Davies told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brunson Mastiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dean Davies!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mastiff as he avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Davies.
Davies is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mastiff.
Davies misses with a double jab.
Mastiff moves in looking to clinch but Davies pushes him off.
Mastiff really is a fat lump.
Davies avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Davies drives through with a takedown into guard.
Davies throws a big right hand that misses.
Mastiff looking for a sweep. Not yet Mastiff, not yet.
Davies tries to free his leg and advance position but Mastiff is retaining full guard.

Davies drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davies jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mastiff has momentary wrist control but Davies slips an elbow through the middle.
Mastiff wants to sweep here but Davies controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davies thows a big elbow that misses.
Davies postures up in Mastiff's guard and throws a big left but Mastiff blocks it.

Davies stands and steps away. Mastiff gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mastiff feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Davies working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mastiff doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mastiff manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mastiff takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mastiff's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mastiff has managed to clinch.
Davies has Mastiff pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mastiff manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Davies tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mastiff takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mastiff has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Davies has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Mastiff doesn't have the hooks in and Davies manages to turn into his guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brunson Mastiff.
Well Mastiff has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
