Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Keijo Kuosmanen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Teo Pliskin!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pliskin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pliskin throws a hook but Kuosmanen blocks it.
Pliskin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pliskin doesn't manage to clinch there - Kuosmanen circles away.
Kuosmanen slips a jab and a cross from Pliskin.
Pliskin tries to clinch but Kuosmanen is having none of it.
Kuosmanen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pliskin but Pliskin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kuosmanen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kuosmanen lands in his opponent's guard.
Kuosmanen trying to control the position from guard on top but Pliskin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pliskin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pliskin wants to get back to his feet but Kuosmanen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kuosmanen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pliskin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kuosmanen trying to move into half guard but instead Pliskin has managed to sweep!
Kuosmanen has his foot on Pliskin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pliskin works his way back into a safe position though.
Kuosmanen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pliskin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kuosmanen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pliskin's back instead.
Kuosmanen has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Pliskin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Pliskin is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Pliskin is in bad spot here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kuosmanen is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Pliskin is tapping out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Keijo Kuosmanen!
