PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Henry King (ranked 6518 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Foster (ranked 6458 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Henry King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sean Foster!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in and bounces Foster off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
King not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Foster wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.
King wants to pass the guard but Foster is keeping the position.
King landing with the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foster thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Foster really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Foster controls King momentarily but King frees himself.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Foster can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foster wants to sweep but no luck.
King lands a couple of digs.

Foster is working an open guard so King takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Foster closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming King to the mat! King manages to get full guard.

King manages to escape and get back to his feet.

King clinches up against the cage.
Foster changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.
King lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Foster backs up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by King or perhaps it was just good defense by Foster, which made it look bad.
King circles away from the clinch attempt.
King dives in for a single leg takedown but Foster sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Foster throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

King clinches.

Foster's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

King closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Foster is trying to pull guard but King has him pressed against the cage.

Foster gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, King regains guard.

King manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Foster looks winded!
Foster misses with the head strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foster is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but King is defending well.
Henry King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Foster.
King goes for a takedown attempt but Foster pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
King fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Foster.
King darts in looking for a takedown but Foster gets double underhooks and turns King into the cage.

and King counters with a left to the body.
King scores with a hook to the body. Foster takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
King lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
King feints a jab promting Foster to slip. King then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Foster slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
King works Foster's body with a nice hook.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Foster leaves King with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
King moves out of range of the body kick.
King's corner calls for a 1-2. King obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Foster tries to keep at a distance but King has taken the fight into the clinch.

King breaks from the clinch.
Foster sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
King fails with the takedown.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
As King backs off Foster throws a huge counter combo but King manages to avoid it all.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry King dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


King stalks Foster and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Foster's face. Foster staggers backwards, shaken.
Foster shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Foster enables King to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Foster manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
King throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Foster keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
Foster striking off his back but it's not causing King any problems.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
King has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Foster looking to control but King passes into half guard.
Foster is breathing heavily.

Foster wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King lands with a punch from half guard.
Foster avoiding damage under a succession of punches from King.
Foster tries to kick King off but King keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
King is trying to control. Foster wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Henry King overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

King stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Foster to get to his feet.
Foster on the wrong end of a nice hook.
King wants to clinch up but Foster keeps it at a distance.
Henry King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King works over Foster's head and body with a nice combination.
Foster has his takedown stuffed
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
King lands a lovely overhand right.

King drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
King advances nicely into full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

King looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The referee warns Foster that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Foster is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
BOOM! King connects with a massive shot to the dome!
King controlling from the full mount.
Foster takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, King cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King controlling the position easily from mount.
Foster tries to hold on but King postures up.
King sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Foster is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry King dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


King works over Foster's head and body with a nice combination.
Henry King is winning the standup battle so far.
King moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

King closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Foster to the mat! Foster manages to get full guard.

Foster has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. King is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Foster has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by King after a bit of a struggle.

King breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Foster has his takedown stuffed
and King counters with a left to the body.

King moves into the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Foster takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Foster manages to break the clinch.
King throws a one two combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King darts in and clinches Foster up against the cage.

King manages to pull guard.
King lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

King pushes down on Foster's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Foster has hold of King's hands but King slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
King wants to take a breather but Foster is having none of it.
Foster wants to control but King is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King wants to control but Foster is keeping him busy.
King looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
King drops an elbow to the side of Foster's head.
King scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
King lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Foster trying to control here.

King is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Foster is just riding it out for now. King eventually gives up the hold.

King is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

King wants to work for an arm triangle but Foster is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Nice strikes from King there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

King is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Foster doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time King.
Foster misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King is looking for a kimura but Foster is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for King to get the leverage.
Sean Foster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Henry King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
King wants to take a breather but Foster is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Henry King showed his dominance in that final round.
Well King has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
