Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between MIke Fernandes (ranked 5319 p4p, 184 weight class) and Jin Ravek (ranked 8565 p4p, 266 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, MIke Fernandes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jin Ravek!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ravek counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Fernandes!
Ravek trying to control the action but Fernandes is working from the bottom.
Ravek is staying tight to Fernandes's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Ravek is looking to take a break and control but Fernandes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ravek's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fernandes is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fernandes is trying to escape the position but Ravek is controlling the position.
Ravek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fernandes keeps working.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Let's hope that Ravek has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Ravek might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Fernandes definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ravek connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Fernandes some visible discomfort.
Fernandes is letting Ravek control him for a moment.
Ravek wants to control but Fernandes is keeping him busy.
Ravek remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Ravek looking to control but Fernandes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ravek tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Fernandes is squirming around, avoiding Ravek's attempts to control the action.
Ravek sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ravek with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
Ravek can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fernandes is looking to escape.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fernandes misses with a takedown attempt - Ravek sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
MIke Fernandes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ravek shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fernandes is trying to defend but Ravek finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ravek looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fernandes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fernandes is not content to let Ravek control the position.
Ravek is taking a breather. Fernandes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ravek has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ravek is trying to control. Fernandes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jin Ravek has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ravek working over Fernandes with some ground and pound. Fernandes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Ravek takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ravek tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fernandes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ravek connects with a nice short shot to Fernandes's temple.
Ravek passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fernandes!

Ravek breaks from Fernandes's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Ravek wants to control the pace but Fernandes is squirming around nicely.

Fernandes is in a horrible position here. Ravek smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Jin Ravek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fernandes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ravek pulls his head out easily.
Still in half guard, Ravek seems content to control.
Ravek looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fernandes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ravek looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ravek shoots in looking for a takedown. Fernandes tries to sprawl out of it but Ravek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fernandes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fernandes seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Ravek is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Ravek is trying to control. Fernandes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Jin Ravek comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ravek winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jin Ravek decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
