The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blanchard misses with a jab, cross combination.
Azevedo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Blanchard defends it well.
Blanchard misses the shot to the body.
Azevedo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Blanchard lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Azevedo backs up against the cage.
It looks like Luiz Correia Azevedo has been cut.
Azevedo takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Blanchard lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Azevedo at a distance.
Blanchard throws a hook to the side of Azevedo's head but Azevedo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Azevedo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blanchard circles away.
Blanchard takes a swing at Azevedo's ribcage but misses.
Blanchard lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Azevedo defending well as Blanchard loads up on a big left hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Azevedo looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Blanchard lands an overhand right.
Azevedo is rocked!
Azevedo glances at the clock... BAM! Blanchard nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Azevedo crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Azevedo is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Andre Blanchard!
