PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Kraft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thomas Kraft!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Abbott!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kraft pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kraft looks for a takedown but Abbott sprawls well.
Abbott throws a right and a left that Kraft avoids nicely.
Kraft rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Abbott moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kraft throws a body kick that misses.
Kraft is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Abbott drops Kraft with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kraft looks back up at him and smiles so Abbott waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Kraft is rocked!


It looks like Thomas Kraft has been cut.
Abbott lands a nice hook to Kraft's body. Kraft takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kraft tries to close the distance and clinch but Abbott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kraft fails to pull guard.

Kraft ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kraft no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Abbott wants to control from the top but Kraft keeps moving.

Kraft controls Abbott momentarily but Abbott frees himself.

Abbott frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Abbott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kraft's face.

Kraft manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Abbott seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Abbott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Abbott moves into full mount! Kraft won't be happy about that!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Abbott has control of Kraft's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kraft regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Abbott breaks from Kraft's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kraft is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The referee warns Kraft that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Kraft pushes Abbott off and gets back to his feet.
Abbott moves in looking to clinch but Kraft pushes him off.
Kraft misses with a combination
and Abbott counters with a two punch combo.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kraft throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Abbott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kraft is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Abbott dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kraft closes the distance and clinches up with Abbott, looking for a takedown. Kraft pushes Abbott against the cage but Abbott circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Abbott counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kraft won't be happy with that.
Kraft manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Kraft wants to get back to his feet but Abbott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kraft tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Abbott wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Abbott throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kraft gets back to half guard.
Kraft is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Abbott's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Abbott's back!

It looks like David Abbott has been cut.
Thomas Kraft seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kraft lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Abbott circles away quickly and effectively.

Abbott throws a sloppy head kick and Kraft moves out of range easily.

and Kraft takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but David Abbott will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Kraft's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Abbott counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

and Abbott counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

David Abbott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

David Abbott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Abbott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
