Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Klein East (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusty Everson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think East might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cold as Ice- M.O.P.. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Klein East!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rusty Everson!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Everson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Everson lands a few punches from side control.
Everson looks up at the clock and then as East takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Everson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

East is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Everson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
East is looking for a sweep. Everson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

East is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
East has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
East wants to stand up but Everson is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Everson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in East's guard.

Everson ducks straight into an uppercut from East and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Everson maanges to regain guard straight away.

East wants to control from the top but Everson keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Everson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Everson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Klein East is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Everson shoots for a double leg takedown but East sprawls well. He's pushed Everson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
East throws a right and a left that Everson avoids nicely.

Klein East overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
East is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
East looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Everson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
