Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kaleb Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Phillips, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alves has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Phillips finds it's way round the side to connect with Alves's head.
Phillips keeps the fight on the outside.
Alves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alves misses with a wild body shot.
Anderson Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phillips lands a left and a right that sends Alves crashing to the canvas! Phillips dives into mount looking to finish!


Alves is rocked!


It looks like Anderson Alves has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Oh Alves is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Phillips looking to control and managing it successfully.
Alves is looking to improve his position but Phillips isn't that keen on the idea.
Alves seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alves tries to lock up and control but Phillips gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Alves is trying to escape the mount.
Alves manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Still in half guard, Phillips seems content to control.
Alves regains full guard. Nicely done.

Phillips stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Alves wants to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phillips throws a sloppy head kick

and Alves moves into the clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Phillips.
Phillips lands with a left to the head.
Phillips has Alves pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Alves manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Phillips is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Phillips lands with a right to the head.
Phillips has Alves pressed against the cage.
Phillips pushes Alves back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Phillips breaks the clinch.
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Phillips, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Phillips against the cage but Phillips circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Phillips connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alves momentarily.
Phillips looks to score with a jab to the body but Alves is just out of range.
Phillips scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alves doesn't seem bothered though.
Alves tries to clinch but Phillips is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice uppercut lands for Phillips. That snapped Alves's head back.
Alves is breathing heavily.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Phillips as he avoids it easily.
Phillips jabs at Alves's body.
Phillips lands a nice looking body shot.
Alves blocks a head kick by Phillips.
Phillips listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Phillips connects with a looping right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Phillips as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Phillips throws an overhand right that drops Alves like a sack of potatoes! Phillips dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
