Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harcin Meld!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Jack Gold!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meld looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Gold throws a head kick that misses.
Gold scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A shot to the liver by Gold. Beautiful body shot.
Gold is looking to slow Meld down with leg kicks.
Gold has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Meld is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Gold defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Meld.

Meld closes the distance and clinches.
Meld misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gold.

Gold breaks from the clinch.
Gold throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Meld on the side of the head.


It looks like Harcin Meld has been cut.

Meld moves into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Meld jumps into guard, dragging Gold to the mat.
Gold trying to control the position from guard on top but Meld is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gold throwing strikes but missing.
Gold wants to stand but Meld is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gold trying to control but Meld is working from the bottom.
Meld working a defensive guard here.
Gold trying to control but Meld is working from the bottom.
Meld looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gold is one step ahead there.
Gold stops Meld from standing up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gold slips a jab and a cross from Meld.
Meld fails with the takedown

and Gold counters by moving into the clinch.
Gold misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Meld.
Meld wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Gold is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Meld is defending well for now.
Meld jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gold walks away with a smile on his face. Meld gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harcin Meld. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Meld closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gold to the mat! Gold manages to get full guard.
Gold lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gold sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Meld's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gold is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Gold passes to side control.
Meld taking punishment in the form of punches.
Gold trying to control the position but Meld is working away.
Gold creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Meld sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Gold lands a decent elbow from side control.


Meld is rocked!

Gold has hold of Meld's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Meld tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gold cranks the arm and Meld screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Meld, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jack Gold!
