Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon Walls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Wright!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walls fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Walls looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Wright tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wright throws a solid leg kick but Walls takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Wright.
Walls circles away from the clinch attempt.

Walls shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Walls was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walls avoids the attempt from Wright to control.
Wright tries to reverse the position but Walls maintains control.
Wright wants to control but Walls is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright trying desperately to get to his feet.
Wright keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wright is trying to stand up.
Walls can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wright is looking to escape.
Wright really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wright holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Walls tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wright can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wright is looking to improve his position but Walls isn't that keen on the idea.
Wright is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Poor strikes thrown by Walls there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Walls tries to control but Wright wriggling away.
Wright tries to hold on but Walls pushes him away.
Walls trying to control but Wright is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walls throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walls throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Wright is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leon Walls dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wright wants to clinch up but Walls keeps it at a distance.
Wright misses with a jab, cross combination.
Walls is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Wright stuffs the takedown attempt from Walls. Walls gets slowly back to his feet.
Walls has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Wright throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Walls moves away from the strike by Wright.
Wright lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Walls gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wright has had enough of the clinch but Walls keeps him there for the moment.

Walls gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Walls stalling away here and it's allowed Wright to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Walls looking to pass the guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walls trying to control but Wright is working from the bottom.

Walls gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Walls pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wright throws a front kick aimed at Walls's knee but Walls avoids it well.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Walls as he avoids it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nice sprawl there from Wright as Walls shoots in.
Wright closes the distance but Walls moves to the side
and Walls counters with an inside leg kick.
Wright tries to clinch but Walls moves away

and Walls counters by moving into the clinch.
Walls is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Walls is trying to drag Wright to the mat but Wright just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Walls. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wright is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Wright lands an uppercut.
Knees in the clinch landing for Walls.
Wright wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Walls has him pressed against the cage.
Wright misses with the head strike.

Walls breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No luck for Walls with that takedown attempt.
Wright throws a leg kick that is checked

and Walls counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wright's guard now.
Wright is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Wright can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walls controls the pace.
Wright is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Walls trying to control but Wright is working from the bottom.
Wright wants to stand and escape but Walls is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walls pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wright is keeping the position for now.
Walls postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Walls won't allow Wright to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Walls shoots in looking for a takedown. Wright tries to sprawl out of it but Walls keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wright manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wright tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Walls counters with a slapping leg kick.

Wright shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wright showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leon Walls dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Wright. No joy for Walls on that attempt.
Wright thows a leg kick but Walls checks it

so Walls counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walls. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Walls wants to pass the guard but Wright is keeping the position.
Wright wants to sweep here but Walls controlling him for the moment.
Wright is adopting a defensive guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wright pushes Walls off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright tries to clinch up but Walls circles away and keeps his distance.

Walls scores a takedown into full mount!

Walls jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wright is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wright and Walls has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wright is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Wright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Leon Walls overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Walls looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Wright can't do much from the bottom here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walls wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy.

Walls decides to stand back up.
Walls shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wright as he avoids it easily.
Wright tries to clinch up.
Wright throws and low kick but Walls moves out of range easily.
Walls has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Walls. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wright is looking to clinch.

Walls has Wright up against the cage in a clinch.
Wright fails to pull guard.
Wright is looking to break free of the clinch but Walls has double underhooks.

Walls pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Walls shoots in but no luck this time.

Walls closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wright wants to get back to striking at distance but Walls won't allow it.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Walls is looking to control Wright's arms but Wright gets an underhook and turns him. Now Walls has his back to the cage.
Wright has had enough of the clinch but Walls keeps him there for the moment.
Wright has Walls pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walls manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Wright tries to pull guard but Walls holds him up against the cage and eventually Wright drops back down to his feet.
Walls presses Wright against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Steven Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Leon Walls is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Walls tries for a takedown. No joy.
Wright misses with a short punch on the inside.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leon Walls showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walls, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
