Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Foster (ranked 8803 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheet Set (ranked 6457 p4p, 0 weight class). Sheet Set will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sheet Set!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ron Honeybunn and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Set drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Set trying to control the position from guard on top but Foster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Foster wants to stand but Set is controlling the position.
Set postures up in Foster's guard and throws a big left but Foster blocks it.
Foster avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Foster could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Set throwing strikes but missing.
Set throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Set throwing strikes but missing.
Set won't allow Foster to sweep him here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foster trying to keep a closed guard but Set is proving a slippery customer.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Set accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Foster trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Foster looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And Set responds with a good body kick, but Foster manages to step out the way in time.

Set shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Set showed some decent athleticism there.
Set misses with a head shot. Foster uses the momentum to regain guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foster wants to stand and escape but Set is having none of it.
Set looking to pass the guard.
Foster is trying to control the position but Set postures up.
Set throwing strikes from guard but Foster blocks nicely.
Set wants to stand but Foster is controlling his posture from full guard.
Set controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Set stands up and waves to Foster to follow him.
Set swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Foster throws a counter high kick but Set was just alert enough to avoid it.

Set has Foster up against the cage in a clinch.
Foster is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Set pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Set misses with a shot to the kidneys.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Set breaks the clinch.
Foster tries to clinch but Set moves out of range.
Set throws a counter combo.
Foster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Set displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Alex Foster has been cut.

Set bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Set working away.
Set landing strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Set wants to control but Foster is keeping him busy.
Foster managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Set.
Foster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Set not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Set thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Foster's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Set seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Foster does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Foster wants to get back to his feet.
Foster might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Set stands up and beckons Foster to join him on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sheet Set dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alex Foster's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Foster takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Set gets a clinch.

Set pulls guard.

Set looking for subs off his back but Foster has passed one foot through into half guard.
Set pushes Foster off looking to stand but Foster dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foster scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Foster trying to control the action but Set is working from the bottom.
Set wants to get back to his feet.
Set is trying to maintain the position but Foster is very close to passing his half guard.

Set pushes Foster off and gets back to his feet.

Set tries to keep at a distance but Foster has taken the fight into the clinch.
Foster goes for a takedown attempt but Set pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Set drives through with a takedown into Foster's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Set trying to control but Foster is working from the bottom.
Sheet Set has got the better of the ground game so far.

Set stands up and waves to Foster to follow him.

Set gets a double leg takedown into Foster's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Set decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Foster, up you get!
Set goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Foster tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Foster takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Foster is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Foster moves in looking to clinch but Set pushes him off.
Set lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Set misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Foster tries to clinch but Set is having none of it.
Foster fails in his attempt to clinch.
Set throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Foster steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Set. That one must have hurt.
Set throws a solid leg kick but Foster takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Set.
Set is breathing heavily.

Set gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Foster tries to pull guard but Set forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Set breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Set lands a nice looking body kick.
Sheet Set seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Foster showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Set.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Set misses with a head kick.
Set has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A head kick from Set lands but Foster takes it in his stride.
Foster tries to clinch but Set is having none of it.
Good shot there by Set.


Alex Foster's cut is getting worse.
Sheet Set is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Set with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Foster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sheet Set showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Foster's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Set misses with a few strikes there.
Foster closes the distance looking to clinch
and Set counters with a straight right hand.
Set misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Set slaps away a takedown attempt from Foster, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Set as Foster shoots in.

Foster gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Set to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Set passes Foster's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Set not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Set.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
You can see the frustration on Foster's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Foster regains half guard.
Foster trying to control from the bottom.
Set not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Set stands up out of the half guard.
Set works over Foster's head and body with a nice combination.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Set lands with a short punch from the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Set escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Set circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Foster drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Set follows Foster to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:06 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sheet Set!
