The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott throws a head kick but Hankins moves out of range.
Hankins doesn't manage to clinch there - Scott circles away.
Scott lands with an overhand left.
Hankins throws a sloppy head kick
and Scott counters with a nice uppercut.
Hankins's corner calls for a 1-2. Hankins obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


It looks like Nathan Scott has been cut.
Scott throws a right and a left that Hankins avoids nicely.
Scott tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Scott tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Hankins clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hankins ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hankins no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Hankins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Scott stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Clifford Hankins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Scott counters with a head kick. That will keep Hankins thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Scott throws a right hand that Hankins ducks under and follows up with a left that Hankins also avoids with ease.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Scott counters with a big head kick but Hankins shrugs it off.
Scott throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Hankins counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hankins.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hankins.

Hankins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scott tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hankins presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hankins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scott pinned against the cage. Scott gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hankins wants to get back to striking at distance but Scott won't allow it.

Hankins goes for a takedown attempt but Scott pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch but Hankins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Hankins counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hankins.
Scott could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Scott wants to break the clinch but can't.

Hankins manages to break the clinch.
Scott throws a leg kick which misses Hankins's front leg but catches the back leg as Hankins tries to avoid it.

Scott thumps Hankins with a low kick.
Hankins fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nathan Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clifford Hankins.
Scott thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hankins if he has to take too many more of those.
Scott fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hankins on the side of the head.

Hankins rushes Scott and presses him up against the cage.

Scott lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Hankins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scott is fending him off so far but Hankins persists. Nope, Scott circles away and we're back to standing.
Hankins walks into a left hand.
Hankins wants to clinch
and Scott counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Scott clobbers Hankins with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hankins is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Hankins gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Scott.
Hankins closes the distance but Scott moves to the side
and Scott counters with a big head kick but Hankins shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Clifford Hankins will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Scott wants to clinch up but Hankins keeps it at a distance.
Scott looks to land a combination but Hankins avoids it well.
Nathan Scott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Scott counters with a two punch combo.
Hankins misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

and Hankins holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Scott is trying to break the clinch but Hankins has him pressed against the cage.

Hankins has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Scott off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scott tries to break the clinch but Hankins is controlling the position.

Hankins jumps guard and drags Scott to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hankins tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Scott postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Scott wants to get up but he can't break Hankins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Scott has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hankins has Scott pulled in close to control his posture.
Hankins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Scott's guard.

Scott is looking to stand back up but Hankins counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Scott.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Hankins is taking a breather. Scott says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hankins is keen to just control but Scott is a slippery customer.
Scott wants to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scott tries to kick Hankins off in order to stand up. Hankins Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Hankins advances nicely into full mount.

Scott is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Clifford Hankins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
