Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Lampert (ranked 5067 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Lau (ranked 7468 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Lau has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Lampert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Lau!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lampert tries to clinch but Lau moves out of range.
Lampert darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Lau shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A punch lands to the side of Lau 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Lau misses the shot to the body.
Lampert cracks Lau with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Lau walks into a stiff left hand from Lampert.
Lampert lands a nice hook to Lau's body. Lau takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Lau decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Still in half guard, Lau seems content to control.
Lampert is looking for a sweep. Lau is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lampert is working hard here to advance position.
Lau controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lau passes to full mount!
Lau controlling the pace for now.
Lau's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Lau avoids the attempt from Lampert to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lau takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lampert is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Lau sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Lau avoids the attempt from Lampert to control.
Lau lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Lau controlling his opponent.
More stalling from Lau.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lau is landing with some decent strikes but Lampert is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Lau will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lau throws a right hand that misses
and Lampert connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lampert looks to land a right hand but Lau moved out of range.
Lampert lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lau moves out of range of the strikes.
Lampert throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lau on the side of the head.
Lau takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Lampert misses the jab.
Kyle Lampert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lau circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lau misses with a wild body shot.
A quick step to the side and Lampert tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lampert is looking to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lampert looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lampert waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lau.
Lampert just misses with a punch to the body.
Lampert connects with a body shot that sends Lau's belly button to the back.
A lazy left from Lampert finds it's target.
Lampert fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Lampert throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lau.
Lampert is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Lau moves out of range as Lampert strikes.
Lau keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lampert throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A countering left hand to the body from Lau misses.
Lampert misses with a looping right.
Lampert lands with an uppercut that bounces Lau off the cage and back into range.

Lau bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lampert is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lau can do to turn this around?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lampert tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Lau is riding his opponent, not letting Lampert buck him off.

Lau biding his time, controlling Lampert.
You can see the frustration on Lampert's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Lampert is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Joe Lau has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lampert tries to escape but Lau has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Lampert dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Lampert wants to clinch.
Lau shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lampert seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Lampert cracks Lau with a right hand to the side of the head.
Lampert avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nice shot by Lampert.
Lampert throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lau stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Lampert connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Lampert counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Lampert dodges the punch combination from Lau.

Lau is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Lampert with a body shot.
Lau avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lampert scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lau throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Lampert counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lau looks to land a right hand but Lampert moved out of range.
Lampert swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Lampert ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Lau shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lampert's guard.
Lampert not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Lau sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lampert's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lampert looks like he's trying to stand up.
Lau not doing much here.

Lau prevents Lampert from standing back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lau takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Lampert takes a swing at Lau's ribcage but misses.
Lau throws a right hand that misses
and Lampert counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Lau misses the shot to the body.
Lau throws a jab when Lampert was well out of range.
Lau is looking to chop away at Lampert's legs.

and Lampert counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lampert.

Lau has had enough of the clinch but Lampert keeps him there for the moment.
Lau drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Nice body punch from Lampert - that landed with a thud.
Lau working hard to break the clinch.
Lau's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lampert keeps control of Lau as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Lau wants to stall.
Lampert has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Lampert lands with a short shot to the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lampert.
Lau's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lampert throws a head punch that misses.
Lampert throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Laus head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lau is trying to push Lampert away but Lampert has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kyle Lampert showed his dominance in that final round.
