PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Carver (ranked 6666 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benz Bruckner (ranked 6677 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alfred Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benz Bruckner!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carver looks for a takedown but Bruckner sprawls well.

Bruckner moves into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Bruckner tries to stall but Carver uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Carver is trying to pull guard but Bruckner has him pressed against the cage.

Carver has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bruckner uses from the top position.

Carver working for a triangle but Bruckner defends it easily.
Carver pulls Bruckner in close to his closed guard and prevents Bruckner from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carver has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bruckner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Carver.
Bruckner wants to stand but Carver is controlling his arm.
Carver is looking for a sweep.

Bruckner decides to stand back up.
Bruckner throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Bruckner closes the distance and pushes Carver back into the cage.
Bruckner scores a nice knee to the body.
Bruckner just leaning against Carver, taking a breather.

Bruckner fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bruckner's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Carver jumps guard but Bruckner stands there with Carver around his waist. Carver gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carver is trying to pull guard but Bruckner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Bruckner goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Bruckner gets control of Carver's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bruckner will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Bruckner is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Carver manages to pull guard.

Carver wants to hit a switch here but Bruckner passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Carver there!

Carver is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Carver is looking to improve his position but Bruckner isn't that keen on the idea.

Bruckner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carver tries to hold on but Bruckner pushes him away.
Bruckner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Carver wants to control but Bruckner is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carver is squirming around, avoiding Bruckner's attempts to control the action.

Bruckner lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Carver gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bruckner wants to stand but Carver is controlling his posture from full guard.

Carver isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bruckner stacks Carver on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bruckner!

Carver is not content to let Bruckner control the position.

Carver is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Carver's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
I would not like to be Bruckner right now.
Carver has the hooks in. Bruckner is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Bruckner is holding onto Carver's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.
Bruckner is trying to break free.
Carver trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Carver trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Bruckner doesn't escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carver seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bruckner for as long as he can get away with.
Bruckner rolls, trying to escape but Carver keeps control of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Benz Bruckner has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Carver dives in and grabs Bruckner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bruckner pushes down on Carver's head and hops out.
Carver sets himself, and Bruckner steps forward looking for the clinch! Carver avoids it this time.
Bruckner scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Carver has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Carver fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bruckner tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carver avoids it.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bruckner creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Carver tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bruckner just stands there and leans against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bruckner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bruckner is fighting to break Carver's control of his arms but Carver is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bruckner gets to his feet. Carver looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Carver shoots in and bounces Bruckner off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carver decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bruckner, up you get!

Well Bruckner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
