Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Twiglet Fingers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryoto Sagat!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sagat tries to clinch there but Fingers circles away.
Sagat keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fingers.
Sagat moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fingers closes the distance and clinches up with Sagat, looking for a takedown. Fingers pushes Sagat against the cage but Sagat circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Sagat counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sagat prevents Fingers from improving his position.
Fingers is trying is best to control the position here.
Fingers is looking for a sweep. Sagat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sagat wants to control but Fingers is keeping him busy.
Fingers tries to roll over but Sagat keeps him under control.

Sagat sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Fingers keeping hold of Sagat's head, controlling as best he can.
Fingers wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sagat is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fingers throws a left and a right that both miss

and Sagat counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fingers's guard now.
Sagat trying to control the position from guard on top but Fingers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fingers working a defensive guard but Sagat passes into half guard.
Fingers is looking to escape.
Sagat is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Fingers is trying to maintain the position but Sagat is very close to passing his half guard.
Fingers is refusing to be controlled, as Sagat sits in half guard.

Fingers is trying to stand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fingers shoots for a double leg takedown but Sagat sprawls well. He's pushed Fingers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sagat misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A nice inside leg kick there by Sagat. That's going to slow Fingers down.
Sagat looks for a takedown but Fingers sprawls well.
Sagat lands with a slapping head kick.
Fingers is looking to clinch but Sagat is avoiding it.
Fingers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Sagat clinches up with Fingers and pushes him back against the cage.
Fingers jumps guard but Sagat stands there with Fingers around his waist. Fingers gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Twiglet Fingers. That's going to take a lot out of him.

so Sagat counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sagat trying to control but Fingers is working from the bottom.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ryoto Sagat dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Sagat bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sagat misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Fingers is looking for a sweep.
Fingers is trying to buck Sagat off.
Fingers dodges the ground and pound from Sagat.
Sagat wants to control but Fingers is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fingers wants to control but Sagat postures up.
Sagat wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fingers keeps working.

Sagat lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fingers down.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fingers can't do much from the bottom here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sagat throws a series of punches but Fingers moves out of range.

and Sagat counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fingers's guard now.

Ryoto Sagat has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fingers trying to keep a closed guard but Sagat is proving a slippery customer.
Sagat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sagat throwing strikes from guard but Fingers blocks nicely.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fingers holds on and takes a little breather.
Sagat is stalling in the full guard.

Fingers working for a triangle but Sagat defends it easily.

Fingers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sagat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sagat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fingers takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Sagat tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fingers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fingers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sagat but Sagat pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sagat closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fingers pushes Sagat away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sagat gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
You can see the frustration on Fingers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fingers tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Sagat presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Sagat gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Sagat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryoto Sagat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Sagat would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Fingers is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Fingers wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fingers wants to hit a switch here but Sagat passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Fingers there!

Fingers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Fingers trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sagat's guard.
Sagat seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Sagat wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Fingers is now in half guard.

Sagat is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Fingers pulls his head out easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Twiglet Fingers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ryoto Sagat is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Sagat connects with a nice looking jab.

Ryoto Sagat comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sagat has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
