The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stafford closes the distance and clinches.

Stafford is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hadley is defending well.
Hadley goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Stafford breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hadley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stafford is trying to drag Hadley to the mat but Hadley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hadley looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stafford is fending him off so far but Hadley persists. Nope, Stafford circles away and we're back to standing.
Hadley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Stafford is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Hadley.

Hadley rushes Stafford and presses him up against the cage.
Stafford is pushing Hadley up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Hadley is looking to take this one to the mat.

Hadley is fighting off a takedown attempt but Stafford is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hadley to the mat. Hadley regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Hadley pushes Stafford off and scrambles back to his feet.

Hadley looks to land a combination but Stafford avoids it well.

Stafford drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hadley is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Stafford dives into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hadley closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Stafford's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hadley lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hadley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stafford defends it nicely.
Malik Stafford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Hadley.

Stafford is working for takedown but Hadley is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hadley throws a series of punches but Stafford avoids them all with ease.
Ryan Hadley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stafford shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Stafford working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Stafford wants to work for an arm triangle but Hadley is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Stafford stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hadley to get to his feet.

Stafford moves into the clinch.

Stafford gets control of Hadley's arms and successfully pulls guard. Stafford will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stafford wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Hadley stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Stafford has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Hadley manages to get his head free but now Stafford has transitioned to an armbar! Hadley grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Stafford! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
