These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joel Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Noah McGowan!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates lands a nice shot to the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! McGowan crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bates - the referee stops the clock and McGowan gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bates. McGowan manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
McGowan shoots and misses
and Bates cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McGowan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Bates. That one must have hurt.
McGowan looks winded!
Bates thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on McGowan if he has to take too many more of those.
McGowan ducks right into an uppercut from Bates.
Bates fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A shot to the liver by Bates. Beautiful body shot.
Bates has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ferocious Beast in the buildup to the fight.
Bates scores with a jab to the jaw.
Noah McGowan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bates is looking to slow McGowan down with leg kicks.
Bates lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Bates keeps McGowan at a distance using the push kick.
McGowan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bates connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! McGowan scrambles back to his feet.
Bates fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Bates connects with a solid leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGowan on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
McGowan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bates throws out a powerful jab.
Bates jabs McGowan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bates drops McGowan with a huge uppercut! McGowan drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Bates is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joel Bates!
