Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cedrick Callahan (ranked 6599 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mel Jo (ranked 6318 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cedrick Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mel Jo!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Callahan, pushing him back against the cage.
Callahan slows down the pace here.

Jo pulls guard effortlessly.
Callahan trying to control but Jo is working from the bottom.

Callahan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jo is adopting a defensive guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Callahan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Callahan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Jo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Callahan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jo has managed to get both his arms back between Callahan's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Callahan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Jo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jo tries to clinch but Callahan moves out of range.
Jo cracks Callahan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


It looks like Cedrick Callahan has been cut.
Callahan leaves Jo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Callahan clinches up with Jo and pushes him back against the cage.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Callahan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jo tries to break the clinch but Callahan is controlling the position.

Callahan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jo's efforts to push away.
Jo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Callahan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jo shoots in and drives through. Callahan sprawls well.

The referee is keeping an eye on Callahan - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Jo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Callahan pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Jo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Callahan defends it nicely.
Callahan wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Callahan just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jo's brow.

Jo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Callahan avoids it really well and circles away.
Callahan is looking to counter the offense by Jo and move into the clinch.

Callahan stuffs the takedown attempt from Jo. Jo gets slowly back to his feet.
Callahan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jo manages to circle out of the way.
Mel Jo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Callahan counters with a straight right hand.

Callahan darts in looking for a takedown but Jo gets double underhooks and turns Callahan into the cage.

Jo dives in and grabs Callahan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Callahan pushes down on Jo's head and hops out.

Jo swats away the attempt to clinch by Callahan.

Jo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Callahan counters with a head kick. That will keep Jo thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Callahan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jo is trying to get back to full guard.
Callahan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jo can do to turn this around?
Callahan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jo's head.

Callahan thows a huge punch but Jo dodges it nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

As Jo tries to get set, Callahan tries to push him back and clinch up but Jo manages to avoid the attempt.

Well Callahan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
