The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson blocks a head kick by Davids.
Simpson looks for a takedown but Davids sprawls well.
Davids tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Simpson manages to circle out of the way.

Davids forces Simpson back against the cage and clinches.

Simpson pulls Davids into guard.
Davids might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Simpson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Davids drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davids jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Simpson has a closed guard, preventing Davids from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simpson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Davids postures up in Simpson's guard and throws a big left but Simpson blocks it.

Davids wants to control from the top but Simpson keeps moving.

Simpson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Davids escapes and throws Simpson's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Simpson reaches up around Davids's neck trying to control. But Davids takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Simpson! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Simpson is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Davids celebrates the victory with the fans!
