Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Veikko Kulkunen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 21 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Landen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kulkunen swings widly with a right hand
and Landen counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kulkunen checks a leg kick.

Kulkunen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


It looks like Veikko Kulkunen has been cut.
Kulkunen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Landen but Landen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Landen looks to score with a jab to the body but Kulkunen is just out of range.
Landen attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Landen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kulkunen.
Landen lunges at Kulkunen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kulkunen's hand.
Landen connects with a leg kick. Kulkunen looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kulkunen throws a jab when Landen was well out of range.

Landen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kulkunen.
Kulkunen misses with a body kick.
Kulkunen misses with a lunging right hand
and Landen counters with a thumping low kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Landen. Kulkunen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Landen tries a head kick but it misses.
Landen looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've been hearing reports that Kulkunen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Landen cracks Kulkunen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Landen throws out a leg kick but Kulkunen moves out of range and Landen only half commits.
A quick step to the side and Kulkunen tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Landen avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kulkunen looks to land a body kick but Landen moved away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kulkunen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Landen desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Kulkunen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kulkunen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Landen trying to control from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kulkunen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Landen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kulkunen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kulkunen's back!

Landen gets his hands free as Kulkunen looks to control.

Landen lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Landen punches Kulkunen on the ear.
Landen is punishing Kulkunen with some ground and pound.
Kulkunen covering up well under a series of strikes from Landen.
Kulkunen is taking damage to the body and head.
Kulkunen manages to reverse the position and now he's in Landen's guard. Nice work there by Kulkunen.

Landen wants to sweep here but Kulkunen controlling him for the moment.

Landen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Landen is on top in guard.

Landen trying to control the position from guard on top but Kulkunen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kulkunen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kulkunen is looking for a triangle but Landen pushes his legs off easily.
Landen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kulkunen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Landen dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Good leg kick by Landen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kulkunen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Landen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Landen flicks out a counter leg kick but Kulkunen steps away.
Landen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Landen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kulkunen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Landen can pounce on him.
Landen moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kulkunen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Paul Landen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Landen sends Kulkunen crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Landen is motioning to the referee to let Kulkunen up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Kulkunen is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Landen catches Kulkunen with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Kulkunen forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Paul Landen!
In his post fight interview, Paul Landen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
