Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Coach Eddie Boxing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Axe!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Topper Green and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Axe fails with the takedown.

Coach Eddie Boxing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Axe.
Boxing digs a good body shot into Axe's ribs.
Boxing lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Axe at a distance.
Boxing scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Boxing avoids the head kick by Axe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight stays on the outside here - Axe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Boxing looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Axe thows a leg kick but Boxing checks it
enabling Boxing to counter with a crisp jab.
Boxing tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Axe is able to avoid easily.

Axe closes the distance and pushes Boxing back into the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Axe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boxing lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Axe at a distance.
Axe doesn't manage to clinch there - Boxing circles away.
As Axe looks to move away, Boxing throws a big counter combo but Axe just gets out of the way.

Horrible takedown attempt by Axe or perhaps it was just good defense by Boxing, which made it look bad.
Axe shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Axe gets tackled into the cage by Boxing. Boxing maintains the clinch.
Axe on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Axe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Boxing counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Boxing lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Boxing slaps away a takedown attempt from Axe, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Boxing lands a jab-cross combination.
Boxing throws a series of punches but Axe avoids them all with ease.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Axe checks a leg kick.
As Boxing backs off Axe throws a huge counter combo but Boxing manages to avoid it all.
Boxing tries a low kick but Axe avoids it.

Boxing gets a clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Boxing creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Boxing lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Axe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Boxing fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Boxing throws a combination. Axe tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boxing feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Axe's calf.

enabling Boxing to counter with a crisp jab.
Axe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Boxing sprawls well. Boxing wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Axe gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Boxing was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Axe.
Axe needs to keep his hands up - Boxing had a free shot at his head there.

Boxing cracks Axe with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Boxing fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Axe on the side of the head.

Axe throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Boxing keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Axe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Axe misses with a takedown attempt
and Boxing counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Axe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Boxing manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Boxing throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Axe stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Axe has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Axe there as he acknowledges the shot.
Boxing finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Boxing shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Axe eats them both and turns towards Boxing to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Axe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Boxing as he avoids it easily.
Boxing stalks Axe and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Axe's face. Axe staggers backwards, shaken.
Boxing connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Boxing lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Axe backs up against the cage.
Axe darts in looking for a takedown but Boxing gets double underhooks and turns Axe into the cage.
Boxing appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Axe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Boxing pushes Axe up against the cage in a clinch.
Axe jumps guard but Boxing stands there with Axe around his waist. Axe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Axe has Boxing pressed against the cage, preventing Boxing from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Axe has had enough of the clinch but Boxing keeps him there for the moment.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boxing, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
